Sculpture by Giovanni Pisano
I took a day to see the Pisano-family pulpits in Pistoia and Pisa, and the Donatellos in Prato and Pisa. Below are sketches from what for me is the greatest of the Pisano pulpits, that by Giovanni in Sant'Andrea in Pistoia. It was a means of making a record but now I take more than that pleasure in drawing from sculpture; well, at least they don't move!
