GARDENS & VOLTAIRE
In the last line of his "Candide", Voltaire suggests we need to cultivate our own garden. The phrase is simple enough but has caught on and no quotations dictionary can skip it. The sentiment encourages us to cultivate, and suggests we keep ourselves to our own business.
